"You are the most wonderful teacher, inspiring thought leader and gracious being in my life in the whole world, for which I am very grateful and feel blessed. Your invitation to an Evian Group plenary in Geneva in 2003 was the first time I met you, thanks to your visionary Open World Initiative to engage future generations in global policy debates, when I was just a junior economist from Shanghai, wet behind the ears. This encounter opened a new horizon for my life transformation from a Chinese citizen to a global one, with a firm belief in making contribution to international cooperation and global public good. More significantly, we have continued conversation and forged unforgettable friendship between generations ever since, no matter physical distance, cultural discrepancies or knowledge gaps in which I fell far, far behind you. I will never forget being loved unconditionally, respected without any reservation, beyond any friendship I can imagine. You are the angel from God. You raise me up to more than I can be. I feel so sorry that in your life time you were not able to see me meet your expectations... In spite of this, I knew that you would still smile at me, give me a pat on the back, hug me saying “well done”. Because you are loving. Because you are tolerant and patient. Because you hope that future generations can be better. Jean-Pierre, I miss you. Me and my family love you. If heaven had a window and God granted me a view of all the beauty it beholds, I'd only look for you. "
